Pretty cool day!
The fun part of my day:
I watched a (very free) guerilla concert for the first time :) LUNAFLY (an indie Kpop band lol what?) was playing underground near one of the subway exits in Gangnam. They ran out of chairs, so I basically sat on the stage, like the obnoxious foreigner that I am. It was super chill :) They played mostly covers of pop artists, like Bruno Mars (The Lazy Song), Maroon 5 (Payphone), Justin Beiber (Baby), Flo Rider (Trouble Maker) and a few Korean songs.
During the performance, they were giving out free iPhone/Galaxy/Etc cases if you answered their questions correctly. I know basically no Korean, so I didn’t stand a chance. BUT after the performance, we asked if they had extra cases, and so I got one for free! :D
The not so fun part:
After the miniconcert, we subwayed back to Edae station at around 23:00. I was in a group with 11 people, and didn’t know everyone in the group. So, when this dude approached me and nudged my elbow, I assumed it was just a guy in our group who accidentally ran into me. But then it happened again. And again. Finally I glanced up and saw that it was this middle aged man who was very clearly not part of our group. I freaked out, grabbed my friend, and walked really quickly, asking the guys in our group to protect us.
The man continued to follow us for several blocks. According to my Korean friend, he started to say stuff like “Don’t speak badly of Korea. Just because you’re foreigners doesn’t mean you can do that.” Now, this guy was not drunk. He didn’t stumble, stutter, nor did he reek of alcohol. So wtf was his problem? He continued to follow us.
Then we approached a crosswalk, and the lights were red. We were stuck with this dude for awhile. My (female) friend told the guy to go away in Korean, and then the guy started focusing his attention on her. LUCKILY, a police station was right behind us, and a police officer was kinda watching through the window, obviously witnessing the whole scene. I beckon at the police officer to come for like a good 20 seconds before he finally, tentatively, pops open the door and comes to talk to the çreepy stranger dude. The lights turn green. I think half of us ran across the street haha.
=_= sigh fun night otherwise
